The Mayan Families Carpentry School offers a unique opportunity for unskilled workers from rural areas of Guatemala to develop a vocational trade.
Students aged 16 and over are taught basic carpentry skills (using both hand and power tools), as well as basic job cost and supply estimating skills.
Turning skills into trade
The Carpentry School has also partnered with our Family Aid Department, and now makes most of the Mayan Families furniture donations. This step towards sustainability gives students a chance to put their knowledge to work, and ensures that the Family Aid Department always has a ready supply of beds, wardrobes, tables, and more for families in need.
How to get involved:
- Donate directly to the program
- Donate tools and safety equipment to our students. For more info about shipping and accepted goods click here
