Summer Experience Trip
Enjoy the Summer Experience with Mayan Families!
Come to Guatemala this summer and spend a week with Mayan Families around beautiful Lake Atitlán from July 11-18 or August 8-15. Lake Atitlán was named "Atitlán, the most beautiful lake in the world" by National Geographic’s Español because of its full luscious green scenery, steep volcanoes, and colorful Maya textiles created by close-knit indigenous communities. Each community surrounding the lake has its specialty that adds to the vibrancy of the culture here.
The opportunity will allow you to understand and work with the Mayan Families' mission and volunteer with our programs in communities throughout the Lake Atitlán region and to learn how the indigenous villages can benefit from your impact.
As a team, you will install stoves, water filters, and serve lunch to the elderly community. Additionally, you will help lead an educational and fun activity for the children in one of our preschools to experience the educational environments that we have created for our students. Most importantly, you’ll build new relationships with the families and children that we serve.
Become part of a supportive team and collaborate with the communities we serve. You will see firsthand our three main focuses as an organization: advancing education, nutrition and health, and economic development, through community-led programs.
The itinerary below is family-friendly for children ages 12+. We only have 12 spots available for each date, so reserve your spot now with a non-refundable, tax-deductible deposit of $300/person. The total program fee is $1100/per person which includes a $300 tax-deductible contribution to Mayan Families, which goes to support the running of our programs.
